Please Login to Remove!

Hey are there any carriers that offer just data plans with like add-ons such as unlimited text without a voice plan???

Well since a data only plan is just a plan, and add on's like text are just attachables, I am sure most carriers would comply with that.

T-Mobile or Sprint for sure

yes, I thought that as well.. but i just visited the major carriers website and not one offered it. Like verizon.. it said voice&data plan. now t-mobile does have a data only plan but you cannot add unlimited text messaging without adding a voice plan. that's why im wondering if its just that they don't offer it or if you just have to special request it in-store and not online

On the GSM carriers SMS is delivered over GSM (voice) and not GPRS/EDGE (data) so I don't see how you could text without a voice plan.

It might be possible with CDMA or iDen carriers...

Cingular has dataplan adds and they also have an unlimited BB dataplan with 1000 SMS as well.

The T-Mobile Blackberry only plan comes with 300 sms message's also, so I see your point that on GSM, SMS is delievered over the GSM network not GPRS, however you don't have to have a voice plan to send SMS.
