Angry Backing up the Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Question have you ever seen where someone cannot run the back up on their device from the Desktop Manager? The error message is Data Cannot be Recognized. I have already done the following:

- Uninstalled the BB desktop Desktop Manager
- Removed Registry Keys
- Renamed the RIM folder under Documents & Settings
- Reinstalled Desktop Mgr 4.0
Still getting the same error message. I am able to run the back up using the advanced option.

Yes, I had the exact problem not to long ago, still not sure of the cause. That being said the remedy I had to take was the following:

Uninstall the 4.0 OS from your machine and delete the vendor.xml file, upon connecting your BB to your computer you should be asked if you wish to udate with an older OS which also preforms a back up.

Upon completion of that process I re-installed the 4.0 OS updated the BB and then I was able to back up with no issue.

I had a backup problem a while ago, and I fixed the problem with some experimentation.
I went to the Backup/Restore section of the desktop software.
I then cleared the Content Store.
Then, I did a backup without the error.
I dont know what started the problem, but it solved my backup problems.
