I have only had my 8100 a few days I do not use a BES server. I have had a 7100 a year ago so am not entirely new to Blackberrys.

I put my cotact numbers in to my Pearl but did not put in the +44 dialling code in front as I have never had to before just the 0 that we use in the UK. When I came to make a call the call wouldnt dial so i changed all my contacts and removed the 0 and put +44 in front of them all.

The problem is that althogh that worked and I could now call out when I received a text (SMS) message from someone it does not display who it is despite the fact I have the contact in my address book. I started to change some back and found that some of the incoming calls would display the caller if it was just in my address book as 0********* but when that caller sent me a text I could not recognise who it was because the text comes up as +44 for the same contact.

Is there a setting I can change? I have had a look but cannot find anything. Has anyone had this problem? I am on the Vodafone network.

This should work:

Press the green button to go into the phone app; hit the menu button and select options, then Smart Dialing.

Change the Country Code to +44 and save it.

I have the same problem, just to help confirm. I live in the US, and have my friends in Hong Kong as "+011852..." -- calls work fine, I see it's them calling. Sending a SMS to them works fine, but when they reply the SMS comes back as "+852...", so I don't know who it is.

(well OK I know who it is because I only have so many friends there, but you get the idea...same problem as you)

They should not need to have the +44 in front of their numbers.
