Smile Seeking application to group SMS

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I am a BB user with a BES in my company and I am trying to find a way to broadcast SMS to 40 users cell phones at once?
I called TMobile and they were no help.
I know I can group email but my customers are still living in the dark ages and use cell phones :(((((
Does anyone know a application I can run on a 8700 that will allow for group SMS?
Thanks
DO

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

DaveO, try out teleflip.com. You can enter each user/recipient as 1234567890@teleflip.com and send from your desktop as email but the recipient receives it as SMS, and via Outlook or other PIM, you can create a broadcast group.

Teleflip is free for up to 5,000 emails per month, or was, I have not looked at their website lately, they were making some changes.

Good luck.

Upoc has exactly what you need for free. Create a private group where only you all can join then SMS messages are sent between your group only

Using teleflip to send to my OWN bb cell number, it first show the sender from "501", the subsequently, from my name. I believe with UPOC.com, you must use their website to deliver email, etc., not your desktop Outlook application.

Try them both and test to yourself a couple of users and see if you get the results you want..., both are free and no harm done. Otherwise, I don't know if you can have your cake (problem solved) and eat it too (you not get ALL the options you want).

Good luck.

I believe it is North American only... however at the bottom of the website is a support email address you could easily ask that question.

I may be wrong as I haven't looked for a while, but I swear that if you log in to "My T-Mobile" you can set up group SMS lists. You'd need to give the group a name and then obviously enter the numbers of everyone in that group. When you want to SMS the group, you just type in the group name.

Again, I could be mistaken, but I think it's there. I'd check for you, but I'm on my way out the door for work...

Yes, it is still on the mytmobile site. Look at your account and for Text Messaging Groups.

The company I work for is in the same situation about half of us carry BB's and the other half don't. We send out between 10 and 30 messeges a day with sales figures or urgent information. Instead of using a mass sms program we created a forwarding email address through google apps that sends the message to all phones via email or sms, whichever they choose. If they have a blackberry we use their email and it doesn't use text messages.

Good idea. You can do that as well, using the carrier email address (1234567890@yourcarrier.net, or the like).

It works really well for us, we have tried other options but none of them really worked. This way everyone doesn't have to set up their own list, users who need to send mass messeges can by just sending an email to the group email address.
