Default Sync Stops With Error

Please Login to Remove!

Help! I have the BB Desktop Manager 4.2.0.14, and a AT&T BB Pearl, and Outlook 2003, on Windows XP. My sync used to work beautifully, and all of a sudden, beginning today, every time I do a sync of my stuff, I get this dialog box pop up: "Function OpenMsgStore Failed". It then stops the sync, and the log says the following:

First System: Handheld
Second System: Microsoft Outlook
Conflict Resolution: Notify
Appointment Range: From 4/1/2007 To 12/31/2400

Input From First System:

READ "Dragstrip"
READ "Class"
READ "Class"
READ "Car wash"
READ "Band"

Total Inputs From First System: 10

Total Inputs From Second System: 0

Field mapping used for translation:
Microsoft Outlook Handheld
Subject ------------------------- Description Title
Start Date ---------------------- Start Date
Start Time ---------------------- Start Time
End Date ------------------------ End Date
End Time ------------------------ End Time
Alarm Date ---------------------- Alarm Date
Alarm Time ---------------------- Alarm Time
Reminder Set Flag --------------- Alarm Flag
Body ---------------------------- Notes
Show Time As -------------------- Free Busy
Location ------------------------ Location
Private ------------------------- Private

Internal Error #4238.
Translation Canceled!"

Any thoughts? Anyone know what a 4238 is? Is there a corrupt calendar entry, and how would I find it? Nothing on the search found this error. Thanks!

Red face Sync with Outlook 2003 failed - Error "OpenMsgStore failed"

I have a BB 7520 on Nextel and Outlook 2003 on Windows XP.

I just went to sync it for the first time since I got Outlook 2003 (I used to import from Lotus Organizer). The first error I got in the log was "Internal Error #4198" (I forget what the popup window said).

So, I upgraded the DM and the OS. Now, when I sync, I get the popup message "Function OpenMsgStore Failed" and the log has "Internal Error #4238".

I've verified that the sync is set up for bi-directional. I have searched and read many posts online and cannot seem to find out how to fix the error.

Thank you, in advance, for your help.

First thing, unplug the BB from the PC and reboot the PC. Pull the battery from the BB and reboot it as well. Then try again.

Please post back if you will get errors.

Default Problem with Sync

Hi,
I got a new Blackberry 8703e a couple days ago, and I am not able to sync with Outlook. I have done everything, including removing the battery, rebooting the laptop, going over and over the settings ...

So, I keep getting this error now:

Runtime error!

Program:...ogram Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\DesktopMgr.exe

abnormal program termination

I am clueless - can't use my BB except it does receive email and I can use the phone.

HELP?

What OS are you running on your laptop, XP or Vista?

I would recommend downloading the LATEST version of Desktop Manager (4.2, Service Pack 2, without the Roxio Media) and uninstall what you have on your lap, install this new and fresh.

"Internal Error #4238"
and
"Runtime error!
Program:...ogram Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\DesktopMgr.exe
abnormal program termination"

Sounds like you may need to recreate your MAPI (Outlook) profile.
Impaler80s also sai that is what he did to fix it.

THANK YOU!!! Works like a charm now. Everything got transferred to my BB from Outlook - addresses/contacts, calendar, memos, and tasks. YESSSS!

Now I just need to figure out how to use it - I just switched from using Treos for years.

Thank you.

I have a 8100 and was getting the Abnormal Termination error when I tried to sync. I reinstalled all (DM 4.3, OS 4.2.1.109). Now when run the Sync Setup for each Outlook folder I get the "Function OpenMsgStore failed" error when I press the Finish button for each folder I attempt to setup sync for *except* the Calendar folder.

I have not tried recreating the Outlook profile. How is this done and what are the consequences? Do I lose all my Outlook data?
