Default BB Call Log - Missing Vital Function

Please Login to Remove!

8100 User here - First time BB owner; but been studying BB's for some few mths.

I really enjoy using this phone, to the point where I find myself petting it by caressing the TrackBall for no reason on the way to work.

There is something about the BlackBerry that presents itself as a glaring oversight. I'm not sure that its a menu setting that I've missed, but I doubt it. I do hope that RIM does work on adding this to ALL units on the next minor firmware update (stable for all other functions). Its the anemic Call Log.

The Call Log is missing something vital. The ability to view the time & date of a call is only available to the current day. I understand that for previous days displaying this would be messy but it can be cleaned up with a menu option for "More" or "View". This way the Time, Date, Duration can be displayed. I'd actually love to be able to append a specific log entry into a Memo or even an Email. I'm sure that Call Logs would be critical to a business & even on the consumer level.

Is there anyone else that finds this odd? Harrasement Phone calls would be a situation where this can be critical when reporting. Or tracking back to a business contact that didn't "get the memo" > but your trying to prove you made that critical call even though SMS gave no confirmation ("111before the sms" doesn't work on ALL GSM networks but should), and email failed.

Quality of phone calls are amazing.

You can view the time and date of calls from more than just the current day. In the call log screen, scroll to the name or phone number you want to look up the log for. Hit the menu button then "view history." That'll give you the dates and times of calls to that person/number for the current day, but also calls in the past.

This is what you're looking for right?

You can do that as well. Once you're in the history log for a certain number/person, highlight the specific phone call log you want to forward in an email then hit menu then "forward." That will put that call log in an email to be forwarded.

Yeah, I use the call logs all the time to log and recall when and were I was. It helps me when I get down to actually logging my hours for the day.

Unhappy no call log

i've had my pearl since jan 07..at first it had a full call log..then that function stopped working...then i could get the call log as part of my message (that's a bit of a pain) now i can only get calls made in the last half hour on the call log then they dissappear...can't get them on messages any longer...went to t- mobile they tell me there is a glitch in the pearl and bb is comming out with a fix...has anyone heard of this problem and a fix....needless to say it is frustrating especially if the caller doesn't leave a voice mail, you have no idea who called or when
