Default US Blackberry in Europe??

Please Login to Remove!

We have employees who go on client visits to Europe on a pretty regular basis. We are looking to purchase 1 blackberry to give them when they travel for use as a phone / email solution while over there. We currently have an account with T Mobile and are looking at the 8700g.

I was just wondering if there will be any issues in this phone working when traveling to: Sweden, London, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Madrid

Is it something that will work with email and phone right away or will sim cards need to be purchased over there? Does the phone need to be unlocked? Are there any specific plans or other carriers that are better for this type of business use?

Thanks in advance and please forgive my ignorance

Make sure that International access is on the SIM card account, It should work just fine there - we use T-Mobile BBs all over the world. They don't work in Libya, Korea and Japan, and a few other places. Services in Europe are outstanding. You can check the T-Mobile International Roaming web site for pricing ($$$/minute or $$$/kb) and for roaming agreements.

The 8700g is a quad band GPRS/EDGE device and will work nicely.

You can sign up for service either here or there. You just need to make sure that you have Blackberry data provisioned regardless of the route you take. I'd recommend just getting an international Blackberry data plan from TMO here in the US.

Only if you plan on using a non-TMO SIM in the 8700g.
