Default Weird Gmail Problem: Delay in pushing only forwarded items

Please Login to Remove!

Hi y'all,

So I have an odd problem that I didn't find an answer to on the board.

I've been having delays from 10-60 minutes pushing email to my tmo.blackberry.net account, which I forward to from gmail (which is in turn usually forwarded to from [email address]). I am a BIS and BES user and BES is fine.

So I hard restarted, replaced service books, and hard restarted again.

And here's where it gets weird:

-If I send an email from wmt@gmail to [email address], I get it on the bb immediately.

-If I send an email to wmt@gmail (or [email address], which is forwarded to gmail), the copy that is auto-forwarded by gmail to [email address] continues to be delayed in getting to the bb.

Any thoughts? I deleted and re-added my forwarding filter in gmail, but that didn't help.

TIA.

hmmmm.

Off the top of my head it sounds like (obvious I know) that whatever Gmail is doing to your mail is the additional time. I used to forward everything from a Gmail account (that had been filtered through a few other Gmail accounts) to my phone (when I was with VZN) and it worked fine all the time. There could be a duration or frequency issue on how often they send out those forwards..Have you tried sending from different accounts to the Gmail which is being forwarded? Could it be that one of those "from" addresses is being held up by Gmail's spam filters or something?

just thinking out loud.

Thanks, Dawgfan. I agree that it is almost certainly a gmail thing; it's just odd that it started happening all of a sudden. I've been forwarding from gmail to tmo for about 9 months now without a hitch. This started a week or two ago (MAYBE when I went overseas, but I think before, so I doubt there's any correlation).

When I'm home from work tonight I guess I should try forwarding to both tmo and another address in the same filter and see if they're both delayed.

Is there any reason you are not adding a few external email accounts to your web client? I used to hate the idea of having my Gmail or Yahoo accounts in my web client and would triple-filter any email before it came to my handheld.

Over time (and even without medication) I have relaxed and now have a few accounts listed in my web client. I like it because I can choose any of them with a single click when sending an email. I hide all the folders and only have one "messages" icon but having a what I call "form-filling-out" email can be nice when you don't want to send from you main email account. If I think someone will put me on a forwards list they get my BS email account because the minute someone adds you to these fwds lists, here comes the spam.

Just curious but I do think that having a few of your email accounts on the web client works out well.

Actually, my [email address] is my catchall. I use gmail as my webmail client (because I like the spam filter and I love the interface), which is why I go through gmail...
