I have reverted to original service books and will wait till these are official releases, (since they are not working anymore anyway). these are the kind of bugs that 'hopefully' will disappear in an official rollout.
good luck - and if anyone figures a way to fix this before the real release , and the IM clients are working again. drop me a line

This might just be fluff from RIM but I've been in contact with them and this is the email they just sent me:
Quote:
Hi Carlos,
We just received communication pertaining to MSN/AIM/ICQ that you referenced earlier.
We have officially announced these services but they have not become a production service yet.
Currently there is no ETA of when it will be released and is dependant on your wireless service provider accepting it.
Please check with your wireless service provider for up-to-date information on this issue.
Have a nice day Carlos.
Respectfully,
Jill

I downloaded the AIM and ICQ clients yesterday on my VZW 8703e. I just tried to download them on my friends VZW 8703e and now there is a notice on the download page:
"Notice
Sorry, your wireless service provider does not support AOL Instant Messenger for BlackBerry at this time."
With that VZW users can not download any of the clients. I have them installed with the service books. I wounder when the server comes back online if I will be able to use them since I already have them installed. Or will VZW somehow block it somehow.

Well, looks like T-Mobile has updated the service books, if your on T-Mobile with an 8800 try deleting just the IM service books, and then sending them again. The UIDs and everything is different and AIM connects, atleast on a friends unit. Will post an updated service book backup file shortly. Still testing this out...
Update: The new service books have different gateway IP's aswell.

Where can we now download the AIM though, if we do not have T-Mobile?
Thanks!

Yes, in the US it looks like T-Mobile is the only carrier that is "supporting" the RIM AIM service at this time.

I tried deleting the service books (via delting on handheld and registering, and by sending on TMobile BIS) and it put the same T-Mobile US IM Client. I still get the "go to bb.com/aim to activate..." message. I also tried rebooting.
What am I doing wrong?

I have a Cingular 8800, and can see the AIM service book, but when I try an OTA download of AIM, it says that my carrier doesn't support AIM yet.

Ok, so I updated my service books, put the ones from here on, and still getting this message:
"Sorry your wireless service provider does not support live messenger at this time."... any idea how to get around that if I have the service books? It's sprint/nextel.. blah..

Weird things happening on my end, all.
Recently my phone Reset itself and the MSN and AIM applications were deleted. I tried to go to www.blackberry.com/aim and www.blackberry.com/livemessenger on my BB but both websites report that my BlackBerry device "doesn't support the AOL Instant Messenger for BlackBerry at this time."
"???mobile.message.requirements???" is at the bottom of this page.
Weird thing is that I downloaded it yesterday with no errors, just fine.
I'm on T-Mobile with a BlackBerry 8100.
I tried calling CC tonight and talked to a pretty knowledgeable guy and he told me he had no idea that an official RIM AIM/MSN client was being released and that he hadn't heard any word about it and nothing was in the computer.
We proceeded to contact RIM support about it and the rim CC had "no idea what we were talking about."
It seems odd that a few people on the boards are getting Service Books pushed to their devices when T-Mobile doesn't even know those Service Books exist, from the people I've talked to.
I think there's a really big mix-up somewhere :(

Mods-
Please close this thread until more details are released!!! We are up to 7 pages 6 of which are filled with the same issues w/the same commentary from users, i.e. I can't connect, I can't download the app, I can't get the service book etc.
Sorry for the rant as that is never my style, just my $.02 on this particular thread. Thanks.

True. It becomes difficult though to go through 8 pages or 10 pages (or however many this one will reach) to find the actual information that you need in relevance to the title or subject matter. Once again my $.02, thanks for the reply.

agree completely, but I would rather sift through one longer thread than 15 threads to find what I am looking for. My suggestion would be to have a mod post the resolution on the first page (when it happens) instead of close this one

I don't see why people don't just use ramble or something till all this clears up and things run smooth.

because ramble kills your battery and constantly drops connection..

Ramble isn’t all that stable either. I see all sorts of new threads about Ramble’s flakiness and other issues.

I still have the same service book.
"Wireless Village - AIM [SMP]"
Live messenger still isn't signing on though. And AIM still has the 30 buddy limit.

Safe to say in summary?
The service will be out soon. You can attempt to download and restore the PID however it will not work anyway because the servers are down.
Wait until the official release, and you shall be free!
See post 96 (Page 3) for the installation instructions, and post 90 for the PID file (Page 3 as well).
PS... same message here on Telus regarding MSN

i downloaded the service book from the first page, and then backup'ed my BB, then it tells you to restore it all back, but how do you get the new service book in?
after this part:
"Open Backup and Restore in BDM once again and click on Restore; select the all_im_clients.ipd file from your Desktop"
Where do we put that?

My BIS mail has all but stopped on the incoming, and I'm thinking the MSN service books are to blame because I have the following IT policy where once there was none: Windows Live [MSN_EVAL]
I'm going to see if removing it fixes the BIS issue.

Offical word from Rim is that the IM clients will be carrier specific and Rogers has no offical ties to msn and aol yet. So no msn as of yet. Dont hold your breath, relationships with these companies dont happen over night.

I followed jibi's instructions and like other Rogers Wireless subscribers I couldn't get it to work. I go to options/advanced options/service books I can see the service books there but when I go to download Windows Live Messenger I get a message saying my wireless service provider does not support Windows Live Messenger at this time. I guess I'll keep using Mig33 for MSN Messenger until Rogers Wireless supports Windows Live Messenger.
