alright, so I bought a 7150t bb on ebay. it said it was unlocked but im not sure of that. so anyways im looking to get it activated and it seems i need an SIM card. from some sort of research i've found that it is the data transfer card(?), if im wrong, correct me. Do I need a plan or can i use prepaid cards. thanks. feel free to laugh at me.

What carrier do you use now? SIM cards are the cards used in GSM phones (Tmobile, Cingular) that make them work. If you have a SIM card in your current phone you will be able to use it in the BB, as long as it is unlocked or the same carrier that you currently have.

eBay? Surely you do not understand what was meant. You get the SIM card from a carrier, the one you are going to go with.

SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module. It contains information about your account. It is not a data transfer card, per se.

When you select a carrier, they should give you a SIM card. Make sure you get a BlackBerry Data Plan on the account. Otherwise you will only have voice and SMS text messages, and not be able to fully utilize the BlackBerry.

Good luck.

Dub, I understood completely that the OP needs a SIM card. They, too, can be purchased on Ebay, just like the OP purchased his BB from Ebay. As a matter of fact, there are over a thousand on ebay right now.

Yes but you could also be getting a dead sim on ebay. Cingular for one likes to "burn" old SIMs where they are physically unable to be used again.

Yep, and you can get dead BBs on Ebay also... I wouldn't buy (a Blackberry) either off Ebay.

lol, yes, yet I did. I don't understand how your quibbling with me over my suggestion that the poster go back to buy a SIM card from the same place he purchased his BB is adding to this thread any.
