Default so what's this PIN ive seen everywhere

Im a noob and I see people put pins to talk to other bb users. I know mine but dont know how to add others ya know. I have blackberry messenger but when i put add a contact it asks for email. So how does this stuff really work.

Instead of hitting enter, click the trackwheel and select 'request by PIN'

Cold, your "other" user you are inviting must have a PIN, i.e., a Blackberry, to communicate with you via BB Messenger.

...and you need to have the other person's PIN entered in his/her address book entry.
