Default Is there a way to have messages appear unread on Outlook?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a user that wants to read emails on his Blackberry.... But appear unread on his outlook account.. (without manually having to mark as unread on his blackberry)

Is this possible...?

I asked this a couple weeks back. If you are on BIS you can turn off wireless reconciliation.

Go to Messages->(Menu Key)Options->Email Reconciliation->(Select the email account you want)->Wireless Reconcile->Off

From the sounds of it you're a BES admin though, so I have no idea if this works or not.

Actually, reconciliation is only useful if you're on BES. If not, it doesn't really do a thing in BIS unless you're on an older version of BIS.

Well I don't know what to tell you other than it works* for me on my employer's Exchange server and I am on BIS. I don't know what BIS version I'm on. I just got my Pearl a little over a month ago from Cingular, if that help.

*--By "works" I mean when I read email on my BB it marks it as read on the server. But like the OP I don't want that. Applying the setting I mentioned above turned it off.

How are you getting email from an Exchange Server if you are not on a BES (unless you are forwarding to a POP/IMAP account like Yahoo, and the read/unread status is syncing on that account)? I'm relatively new to this but it doesn't seem like that's possible to get Exchange Mail straight through BIS.

we need to know if idohearty is on a BES or BIS still. the answer here would be very simple if he's on a BES.

i would also like to know how you're getting email directly from exhange to your device using BIS. i didn't think email reconcile would work with BIS either.

I believe BIS has "one-way reconciliation"; that is, the BB will send messages to the IMAP server saying that you have read a message or deleted a message (when you select to delete it from mailbox). Gmail will only reconcile the deletes; Yahoo reconciles deletes and read/unread as far as I've been able to tell. When I read a message on my BB from Yahoo acct it will show up as read when I log into my mailbox. If I mark it as unread on my BB it will mark it as such on the mailbox also. Pretty cool.

On both of my IMAP accounts on the BB (Gmail and Yahoo) items sent from the BB show up in the mailbox. I don't think BIS reconciles at all with POP3 accounts, or at least not on mine.

Short (and sm@rt@ass) answer is that I typed my address and password into the BIS page!

But I did a little more research than that. On the BIS page I clicked Edit->Advanced for that account. Under "Server" it had "https://mail.(mycompany).com/exchange". I would guess that means BIS somehow uses the web portal. But that's just a guess.
