Default Help: SMS 160 char max :(

Please Login to Remove!

When I am composing an SMS - I can not enter any more characters after 160 - I need to send this one and start a new SMS - on all other phones I had - it would just roll over and let me write my message and send them all away...

So how can I enable so I could just keep writing without the need to stop, send and start a new one?

Thank you all...

It's likely a carrier issue...not a handheld issue. With Cingular, on every BB I've owned, including the 8700-series, I've had them roll over.

yup... it appears that verizon's got the 8703e limited to not roll-over to a longer message...

i've had to edit out quite a few (...)s in my texts lately!

I'm also on Cingular and have not been limited by the issue you raise. So perhaps it is a carrier limitation. Frankly until I saw this post I didn't give it a second thought as my messages tend to be a bit long.

some extra info...

i just switched back to BB from a regular verizon phone (LG enV) and if/when you compose an sms thats longer than 160 chars and send it to a non-verizon user, they do not get the full message....

verizon - verizon -- full message
verizon - non-verizon -- just first 160 chars goes through, and the vzw sender gets an automated message saying something to that effect

...thats 'the network' for ya!
