Interestingly both of my 8700c devices just simultaneously dropped to "edge" indicators from "EDGE" meaning they can see the local data network here in Lake Forest Park, WA (just north of Seattle) but they can't connect to it. This is a highly uncommon state for these devices to remain in for any length of time so I wonder if Cingular is using this outage as an opportunity to muck about with their data services as well...

An ALT-CAP-DEL reset had no effect on either device but a battery pull brought each of them back from this limbo-state. Unfortunately, even though they now appear to be connected to the data network (uppercase EDGE) I can no longer browse via the Cingular WAP browser or through Operamini.

I am going to say sorry in advance for the spamming, but I am gonna be up all night and I am bored... so here is a pull from one of my server's stats

Number of Users: 1374
Messages Forwarded: 32438861
Messages Sent: 1849433
Messages Pending: 24687
Messages Filtered: 1039008

Right now we are finally seeing recent contact times and a message sneak through at a rate of 1 per hour.

I assume that this is why I can't go to web pages on my blackberry, i don't think anyone mentioned visiting web sites just sending/recieving email. SO email outtage (BIS) means no internet for me on my BB either right?

Provisioning, wireless email, and browsing are affected. They're listing it as an 'BlackBerry All service' outage affecting 'The Americas(MULT)'.

p2p is still failing but I can see the pending messages dropping and the sending hitting the server so that is good. Of course new OTAs are still hanging

All services were up and working minutes ago. Now we have 10 BES servers with a Disconnected status.

We can send and receive exchange mail, but pin2pin gives a check and never arrives and OTA activation still hangs

Problem still appears to be intermittent. Mail appeared to be flowing until about 430EDST but choked after that.
Messages are appearing to fail delivery at the handset but are being delivered (>20 minute delay).

This what others are seeing?

Yep, except the delays - I'm not seeing any delivery to my device (I haven't looked at others yet). It appears that RIM failed over to a secondary data center and were restoring from the LKGC (last known good configuration). I'm guessing we'll receive notification within the next 15 minutes stating that everything should be back to normal, barring some delays due to queues.

PIN Messaging is still offline along with everything else data-related.

Have you tried PINning yourself. I believe you'll find it isn't working at the moment.

I understand that, but previously the p2p messages would "clock" and now they are "checking", but not arriving...

Default BB Down - 04-18-2007, 06:27 AM

BlackBerry users in the Western Hemisphere could be affected by a massive system failure at Research In Motion (RIM), Research In Motion Ltd (RIMM)
the marker and developer of the BlackBerry, which is stopping the handheld device receiving e-mails, WNBC reported Tuesday.

RIM, said its infrastructure failed around 8 pm New York time Tuesday and has been down ever since. The technical problem means that the e-mails are not being pushed to the portable communication units, WNBC said.

RIM is trying to reset the system and told WNBC the company is concerned that the backlog of data, which will rush through when it comes back on line, could cause a bigger problem.

When the current problem is corrected, messages could be released in stages in an attempt to stop the system crashing further, WNBC said.

Research In Motion officials weren’t immediately available for comment to CNBC.[/font]

I am still not getting anything in NY, using BES, BIS, Redirector and PINs. My service is also now showing 1 and a smaller XEV than normal. Looks like there everything isn't fully up here yet.

Hopefully everything works by business, or I will be getting a lot of calls which I can do nothing about.

Per TMO, all services should be back online but RIM continues to monitor.

I'm assuming we're at that point of the RIM infrastructure playing catch-up to the last 8.5 hours of downtime. Hopefully the queues will be cleared up and all services back to normal within the next 1.5 hours.

I'll trade you, LOL, I have been on a bridge call since 8pm mountain time with the VP and white glove customer admins. You can only say "Uh, not yet" so many times before you want to sick your finger in the 240v
