New user here with a question. Hope this is the right place to post. Please let me know if it should go in the technical section.

I'm wondering if web browsing and e-mail on my Blackberry goes through my company's BES or does it go through my cell carrier's server?

Let me clarify what I mean by this. I know my company e-mail goes through our BES. I'm wondering whether web browsing and web e-mail also go through our BES or whether they go through a server owned by the cellphone carrier or even a RIM server.

If by web email, you mean BIS, then no. It should be a separate transmission path.

As for web surfing, i would think that is via your cell connection also, but I am not a BES expert. I am sure one will come along and enlighten us all.

The Blackberry Browser uses (or attempts to use) the MDS capabilities of the BES. The Internet Browser (or carrier branded such as T-Zones) uses the carrier's network.
