Tmobile with BB in DC/Baltimore area

Default Tmobile with BB in DC/Baltimore area

I'm on Verizon right now, living in Baltimore (downtown) with a Treo and considering getting an 8800 on Tmobile. I'm moving to DC soon. Is there a forum on this site for talking about service providers or another site anyone knows of? Any of you have any problems with Tmo in Baltimore or DC? I've had 0 problems with Verizon, but my contract is up and Tmo is a lot cheaper and has the 8800. Thanks.

You didn't ask this question, but have you looked at the TMO website Street Level Coverage map? I have found this map to be really accurate when I am about to travel and curious about coverage in the areas I am headed to...

Im in the DC area and I have been really happy with tmo....really good coverage overall. And the above posters are right, the street level map from tmo is pretty accurate.

I do not live in DC, but I have relatives around there and travel through there. We all use T-Mobile (some phones; some BBs) with no coverage issues.. Not sure about underground in the Metro.

As far as I know, Verizon has an exclusive contract with the DC government to provide wireless service in the Metro.

Correct. Verizon only works in the below ground Metro stations. TMobile works in the parts of the Metro that are above ground. I've found TMobile to be on par or better than Verizon. For example sitting here at my desk I have 3 bars on my 8700 and 1 bar on my Verizon cell phone. TMobile works in alot of places Verizon doesn't, especially indoors (oddly enough).

i work/live in rossyln, about 3-4 miles from DC. no issues with my BB, also i have cingular...haha

yeah, if you use the metro a lot, go with verizon - thats definitely a huge plus for ppl who use the metro a lot.

If not, I think tmo its a great choice.

Verizon has an excellent 800/1900MHz network in DC. That, coupled with their coverage in the metro, would keep me as customer.
