Hey guys, i'm pretty sure this is a newbie question here but I honestly can't figure it out. I have a 7290 with Rogers (Canada). I don't have the Blackberry Data Plan but I have read you can use the internet with the TCP/IP stack that is included with the new operating systems.

I found the post on the forum with all the APNs...The one for Rogers was: internet.com with password and username blank.

I added that into the TCP section of the Advanced Options.

As you have probably already guessed, I have recieved no luck with that. Can someone guide me in the right direction or am I totally off base here?

I thought the APN was:

access point name: goam.com
User Name: wapuser1
Password: wap

Please correct me if this is wrong.

That's from 01-08-2005, maybe they changed it? Try the settings I posted and let us know if it works. It can't hurt to try.

I tried the goam.com APN, still no luck.

All I pretty much have to do is type in goam.com and the username and password. Then turn off wireless and turn it back on, is that right? Or am I missing something here?

You may need to reboot the device. Try taking the battery out and then putting it back in.

Since you have an account with Rogers you may want to call their support and ask them what the correct APN is.

also try apn: blackberry.net (leave the username and password blank).

Goam.com is Rogers' 1st APN ever used, I should know I tested that 4 mths before they launched GSM/GPRS network back in early 2001. Goam.com would NOT work because its for WAP browsing ONLY on basic phones, REALLY basic almost legacy by today's standards. Blackberry.net apn, nah I don't think so.

internet.com is correct with no Username & pw's. Mark Rejhon did some SERIOUS work & research with threads like those! Thanks again Mark.

Just precisely what app on the BB are you trying to connect on the network?!

Another user had a problem using the apn with rogers and now it's working again. Please check it again and see if it's working now.

Maybe like everything else with them.....using their apn has a fee attached to it.

I tried the internet.com and with no ID or password. It looks like it does not work anymore.

apn: internet.com
username: wapuser1
password: wap

I have a BB 7290 and does anyone know if this still works? I got 5MB navigate plan on my account and i tried putting

internet.com only

and also
internet.com
username: wapuser1
password: wap

and tried to launch OPERA 3.5 and 4 beta BUT i always get a connection error and this also happens with IM+ where i always get a Failed:Connection message.

Can someone please let me know what im doing wrong or even if this trick still works?

Also i spoke to a rogers blackberry tech and he said he heard about people calling and asking about this trick but he said he hadn't heard in awhile. He did confirm though that for regular phones and PDA's (TREO's) that the APN setting is internet.com with username as wapuser1 and wap as password.
