Default Bought a used blackberry... How do I get rid of the previous owners email?

Please Login to Remove!

I bought a second hand cingular 7130C, put my sim card in it, wiped it clean with JL_CMder, reloaded it but the previous user's cingular email is still on the device (xxxx@mycingulat.blackberry.net). What gives and how do I eliminate it? I do not have the previous owner's password

Contact the previous owner and have them remove the email addresses from their BIS.... If that is not an option then call Cingular and have them remove the accounts....

Best of luck!

Lunkhead - Do you think that deleting the Service Book for the email account would be at least a short-term solution?

Options
Advanced Options
Service Books
Highlight and delete the offending email account

Ya that'll work until they are pushed back..... Give it a try while awaiting Cingular or old owners response...

Under Options -> Advanced Options -> Service Book

Just Delete the unwanted email id

Yes that will work until you reboot the device and it resends all service books, including the ones you just deleted.... They need to remove his email from the IMEI of the device....

The account must be deleted from BIS or else, as Lunkhead has already pointed out twice, the service books will eventually be pushed to the BB and mail will once again flow from the old user's account.

For some reason, people selling their used BB's always forget to do this. I'm guessing they have no clue as I doubt anyone wants to give access to their personal email to some random stranger.

Remember, the BB itself is basically a front end for BIS, BES or both.

Deleting the service book will NOT remove their email. They need to login to the following site (and select their service provider) and delete the email address from the account. BlackBerry - Internet Service Email Setup

I think the PIN for that particular Blackberry is already associated with a BIS account. The previous owner would have to remove it. You wouldnt even be able to create a new account for that device until that is done.
