Default Can you receive mail to subfolders?

Please Login to Remove!

just got a blackberry 7520 from my job and im unable to receive any email that i have rules setup for in outlook. I have subfolders under my inbox for people and if any of those people email me i dont receive it on my blackberry. is there an option or something you have to set to enable this if its even possible? or is the only way i can receive that email is to turn off all my rules in my outlook profile?

Firstly, I'm going to assume that you company is using a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES), rather than you running the "Desktop Redirector" on your PC.

If this is the case, then you need to configure your Blackberry to sync mail from your other sub-folders. By default, it only syncs the Inbox and Sent Items folders.

You can configure this in one of two ways, either from the desktop, or from the BB itself...

From your PC, open up the Blackberry Desktop Manager, select Redirector Settings, and select the "Advanced" tab. You'll see an option for "Folder Redirection"... simply choose "Selected Folders" and then click the "Choose Folders" button to specify which folders you want to sync mail from.

From your Blackberry, go into your Messages application, and select options (ie, press in the scroll wheel, and select "Options" from the menu). Select "E-Mail Settings" and then, while in the "E-Mail Settings" screen, press in the scroll-wheel again, and you should see a "Folder Redirection" option on the menu. Select this and you can choose which folders you want to sync mail from.

I did this on the blackberry device and the inbox is checked. everyones name that is under my inbox has a kind of grey box next to it that i cant put a check in. And yes this is on BES. I dont know if that's b/c i turned all the rules off before i left the office this way I can receive mail from all those people. Don't have access to change that now so if thats what the problem is I will have to wait until monday to change that. Is that what I got to do to fix it or is there something else I need to do so those boxes can be checked?

Is it a Grey box, or kind of a dashed-outline? If it's simply grey, you should be able to check it off by pressing the SPACE key.

The only non-selectable folder (dashed outline) that I have on mine is "Deleted Items", for obvious reasons...

When Desktop Manager is opened, is it connected to your Online mail server? On the bottom of Desktop Manager screen it should say Online.

Then attempt the above and place a tick in Inbox and the folders that Outllok is redirecting mail to using the Outlook Filter.

On the same theme here folks, I have a number of folders beneath my Outlook Inbox. However, although I can go into those folders on the Blackberry, I cannot see the emails I have contained within them, I just see * No Messages *

I have applied the notes above with regard to folder redirection, but the mails have still not dropped into the folders.

Is there something I may be missing here?

Many thanks.
Kieron.

I guess this thread (Subfolder Synchronization) explains it, as they're the older mails that were in the subfolders prior to my Blackberry being set up. Any new ones put in there since, I can see.

Anyone know whether this is 'fixable'?

Thanks.

This is not something that is actually wrong with your BlackBerry.

The BlackBerry will recognize your folder structure. Any new email that arrives and is either moved by you or by a filter/rule into those subfolders will be viewable.

You may have to move them all out and back in again or you may have to forward them all to yourself to get a fresh date.
