Default Got a BB Question

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings. I am a bb user, a techno-peasant and new to forums but I am a nice person and am looking for some advice. Recently while in Jamaica I met a young man who admired my bb (7250) that I have and use for my work. He asked if I could get him one as this is something they don't have readiloy available to them over there. Not knowing what I was doing I said sure. Now I have googled everything I can think of to ask and what I learned is that I don't know what I don't know! The main thing is it has to work over there and I think that means it needs to be unlocked and work with Digicel SIM card. Is that enough though? Does that mean it will work? I am currently bidding on a RIM Blackberry 7290 Color Quad-Band UNLOCKED GSM Phone on ebay.
I am drowing here, can someone tell me if I am headed in the right direction please. Seriously if anyone knows anything it has to be more than what I know and sharing would be so appreciated and helpful.
thanx much

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

You first need to find (and I am mobile right or I would send a link) if Digicel allows the BB Data Plan, needed for the BB to work in Jamaica, otherwide it is just a nice phone. Go to their website.

wow, thanks, not as dumb as I thought! I actually went to the digicelljamaica website yesterday and they posted an article announcing Pearl and all its functionalities. What I don't get is does that mean only the bb pearl or others as well?

I would think if they support the pearl they would support other BB's. Best thing to do is email them or call them.
