Default Java.lang.ClassCastException

Please Login to Remove!

We are running a custom application using a socket connection. The application has been running fine for weeks but all the sudden several users have reported the following error message when running it today.

CtrFF 1: java.lang.Exception:
CUSTOM_onStartup:
Java.lang.ClassCastException

Any ideas?

The ClassCastException is reported when an object of the wrong type is passed. This usally happens when sections of software get out of sync with each other. There have been sevral posts reporting this problem when changing the BB OS and or JVM.

What version of the OS and JVM are you using?

pronerd, thank you for your reply. I am running a Nextel 7520 with OS v4.1.0.380. How do I check the JVM version? At one point the application was working fine and nothing was changed on the device. It just started getting this error message all the sudden.

We were able to resolve the problem by reinstalling the application but the root cause is still a mystery. Any input on this error would still be appreciated.

What does this application do? What does it connect to? What data is it passing? It is by chance using a web service?

Sorry, but I am not able to provide detailed information due to confidentiality agreements. I CAN tell you that it is passing XML to/from our application server which is talking to an adapter attached to the customer's backend system. It's not using a web service. The application is coded to use a socket connection to connect to the application server.
