I am trying to setup a blackberry 7290 for my director but have been getting errors with his address book. He has over 1600 entries in the address book but when he tries to hit the 'V' key to search for all entries beginning with a V an Uncaught Exception error appears. I have managed to replicate the problem on my handheld which is also a 7290.

We are running BES 4.0 on Lutos Domino 6.5.4, Platform version 1.8.0.121, Blackberry 4.0.0.198. If anyone can suggest anything then it would be greatly appreciated.

It happened to me with my 7290 too. It happened when I added contacts from my company's global address list (Exchange) to my contacts and had them wirelessly synced to my device, I still don't know why. Anyway, it kept getting weirder... I found the specific contact that troubled my device, erased it and poof, I could search again, I added it manually to my device and poof, I couldn't. I erased it again and I could search again, but didn't get all the contacts with the same letter...
I decided to leave it alone, and remarkably, a couple of days later (apparently all by itself) I searched again (after adding the contact) and everything was perfect :-\
BTW, it happened to me with a contact beginning with Y so it's not a prejudice against contacts beginning with V

Anyone find the solution to these issues?

I have a 7290 and when I try to search the address book, it jumps to the first entry. Example, I hit "b" to search, but it goes to the first name in the address book starting with 'a' every time. There are over 700 contacts, but they are unsearchable. Anyone have any ideas?

The quick fix I told my users when I had this problem is to go to the Address Book, go to Options, and change the Sort By field to the another option and hit save. Then once it's done reorganizing everything, go back into Options and change it back. Seemed to work each time.

The solution is to do a hard reset on the device. Take the battery out for 15 secs and replace. This will solve the problem!

I get an "uncaught exception: invalid text" when I go into my address book and click on Edit. I tried one solution offered above (to resort the contacts from the options and then switch them back). Oddly enough, this only happens with some of my contacts. Any ideas? Thanks.
