Default Inserting Pause/Wait in Text Fields

Please Login to Remove!

I looked through previous posts and it appears a solution was never found but I thought I would check again to see if anyone has an answer. I am seeking to insert special keyboard chacters (the equivalent of a pause or wait in the dial fields or the address book) in a calendar field that is considered "text." Obviously, the answer is not a simple scrollwheel to select "insert pause" or "insert wait." Nor is it a "," (comma) for the pause. Yes, this is how it is displayed when synched with Outlook and Notes but it actually stored in a numeric defined field but it does not work in text fields.

I am hoping the experts have found a way to enter the equivalent in a text field to create the binary equivalent or something simplier.

Why do you ask I want to do this? I often put bridge line and other telephone numbers with extensions in the subject field of my calendar entries so I can peform a quck click on the phone number in the calendar entry to perform a one click call with the inserted wait or pause. With an inserted comma between the fields it does not recognize the entry as extensions or secondary numbers to dial.

Try putting the number and then an x after it for the extension. Like this:

800-555-1212x111

Shot in the dark since my BB doesn't work at home and I can't try it out....

Thanks for the response. The sequence you recommended does indeed serve up the "wait", at least trying it from the blackberry. At work I utilize Lotus Notes so I will give it a try tomorrow from the office. However, I suspect it will work.

Not to take away from your suggestion - thanks again - but the "pause" is the one I really need to accomplish the one-click entry because the wait does require a second click. Ideas welcomed for the "pause."

You might try the exclamation point "!". I did an address book conversion a while back and I seem to remember seeing a "!" where pauses should be.

Never mind. That prolly won't work. The "!" is the wait just as the "," is pause ... which you've already tried. Sorry.

If dialing from the Phone Dialer screen, when you need a PAUSE, tap "n" or the "," (comma), for a WAIT, tap "b" or the "!". A small "p" or "w" will appear in your dialing sequence.

If you are entering numbers in the Address Book... do the same OR click the trackball/wheel to INSERT PAUSE or INSERT WAIT.

Thanks for the responses but keep in mind the question is the character sequence for the "pause" in a text field, specifically a calendar field. I described the reason in the original post.

Keep the suggestions coming but looking for character(s) in a text field in the calendar.

It's possible to copy/paste the complete phone number from the address book and the pause character will show up correctly but it will not dial from that screen. That tells me this may not be possible, but I hope someone finds a way.
