Default Info Pls: Typical 1mb data usage

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone,

I am currently with Rogers on a craptastic 1mb data plan (for you non-Canadian BB users, our data plans in Canada are terrible.. a 500 KB(!!!) data plan that you can add to your existing voice plan is $25). I'm planning on moving up to 2mb's of data after the 3month promotion that I'm on.

Anyhow, I'm just curious to know if 1mb/month is enough for just:
- emails (typically under 20 a day)
- a few BB Messenger msg's

Anyways, I don't use my BB for internet browsing or anything really data heavy.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

That is really tough to say. It depends on the email size, whether or not there are attachments, how and where you surf and any other data related things you do. Basically you can be the only judge and should check the carrier's website to check your usage so you don't go over.

Something I found in another section:

1MB= 1024 KB

A typical Blackberry email consists of approximately 2.5-3 KB (2KB of text, plus header and overhead).

If you are sending and receiving 20+ emails per day and do a little web browsing, I would suggest going with the unlimited plan (if your carrier has one) because you will get killed on the overage.

If you do not send and receive that many emails, make sure that you have the AutoMore settings set to 'No' (BB sends the first 2KB of text of an email, and you request more if there is more. No sense in getting more if you do not want/need it).

Telus has 4MB plan, their 1 of only 2 BB plans...I know it may be hard to switch now.
Canada does not have unlimited plans (yet).
