Default My 1st Phone Drop!

Please Login to Remove!

Well everybody, I just had my first drop-experience with my Blackberry 7290 I was on the E Train heading to work today and passing by time by reading a magazine. And of course the NYC trains are rumbly and resembles an unsafe amusement park ride so I hear a thud ( thank GOD I was sitting down ). I glanced up and I noticed a bunch of people looking at me with deer eyes but not saying anything so I just looked at them back, slightly shook my head and continued on reading my magazine. 2 seconds later something inside of me tells me to look on the floor and right near the closed door ( thank God the doors were closed!!! ) there was my phone lying face up. I picked it up, dusted it off and checked for any damages. To my delight it is still woking perfectly with no scratches. My heart kind of jumped when I noticed my phone lying there but thankfully it is still working strong! So far, so good

I think that it is time that I ordered a case or holster online.

The 7290 will not break. I've dropped my 7290 over a dozen times on pavement and it hasn't break.

Blackberrys are very resilient. It takes a lot to do any damage.

Almost but you'd be surprised what our users are able to do with them.

We have quite a few water damaged ones that could have been saved had the battery been pulled right away and the 7290 left to dry for a few days. One was mauled by a dog. Our field workers tend to be really rough on them. We have a few 7290's that look like they've been through hell and have cracked LCD's...

Maybe it's time to upgrade for the 8700.

If you tossed the 7290 against a brick wall it would probably dent the wall.... The 7290 is a tank!!!!

Water is the only thing the 7290 won't hold up against. We had those other BB abuse at our shop too but in my opinion they just wanted an 8700.

Our company policy is we won't upgrade the user's BB unless the old one breaks. We had a lot of "broken" 7290 when the 8700 started showing up at our company.

I can imagine the sudden influx of broken 7290's haha. I am going to upgrade to the 8700 or 8800 late in the Summer as a treat to myself.

I have the 8700g. It bounced off the sidewalk yesterday. Not the first time. It has lots of dings but the screen is stil perfect.

I had my 8800 in the holster that came with it and had it hanging off of my pant pocket. Well today the inevitable happened. I was carrying the dog (a westie) up the stairs of my apartment and his leg must have pulled the holster up and out cause all of a sudden near the top step I hear this muffled THUD and then another THUD as the BB rolled down a couple of steps. It only dropped a few steps but of course, it had to land on the edge that the holster DOESN'T protect. Needless to say, the BB is working great EXCEPT for the small scrape of plastic located in the top right hand corner.

If I can get a 8800 Right-side plastic piece, it would be good as new. If anyone knows where to get a casing for a 8800 at, i'm all ears.
