Default How much data do MSN/Yahoo messenger use when connected/running in the background?

Please Login to Remove!

I've searched and seen this question asked but haven't found much information.

If MSN/Yahoo messenger are left connected and running in the background on a Blackberry, approximately how much data would that use? I know it likely varies from program to program but I'd like an estimate of how much data these types of clients use when left connected all day. There are no unlimited data plans where I live. Thank you

It sounds like you're using an msn client that uses SMS/text messages instead of data, so msgs sent are text messages and use your 1000 text msg plan. I'd like to use a program that uses data instead of text messages (no SMS plan and if I have a data plan it makes sense to use a client that uses data instead). Thank you anyway though

Wirelessly posted (8703e Sprint: BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

It depends upon how many contacts you have, and whether they're online, etc.

Difficult to measure

Do these programs usually refresh everytime someone goes online/offline or only when you look at your contact list? If they are refreshing constantly then they'd use more data then if they only refresh when you check them
