Hello How can you tell if someone has recieved your text or emails.

SMS messages will display a "D" on the sent message checkmark in the message folder once the message is delivered to the device.

I have read in the past that on the Blackberry email you can put <confirm> at the end of the message and you should receive back a confirmation. However I don't know if that works, I wonder if someone could tell us?

Actually, you put <confirm> at the beginning of the subject line.

By the way, the 'D' only works on PIN messages. The confirmation on emails actually sends you a confirmation email message.

The 'D' notification also works on SMS messages for some carriers.

BLackberry Messenger also gives you a delivery confirmation.

How do change it so the D comes on when it gets delivered

Because Blackberry Messenger uses PIN messaging.

It's not something that you turn on/off or have any control over. If your carrier supports this feature, as well as the carrier/device of the recipient, it will just happen on its own.
I don't know anything about Sprint, so I can't say for sure whether it will work for you at all.

Just a note: adding <confirm> to the first of the subject does work as a confirmation, but I believe it only works to confirm messages sent TO other BlackBerrys.

Here is the text of the confirmation email sent back to me:

that D only shows up if its sent to same carrier. VZ to VZ, etc

Does anyone know if you are on BES and have delivery confirmation set on your Outlook if you will get DC for messages sent from your BB? I have DC set, but I have the DC messages filtered.

Funny thing when you send a message to yourself from the BB (and you have bcc set for sent messages on BIS), you actually get the confirmation message twice (once for the message, and once for the bcc message). Am I still even on topic?

For SMS messages you'll need to enable the "D" feature. Go to Options >SMS Text >Delivery Reports set to "On." I get the "D" sending to recipients on other carriers, i.e. TMobile to Cingular or TMobile to Unicel, etc.

Other than the <confirm> method there is no other way to get Delivery confirmations of emails (and it's true that it only works for deliveries to BB's.) That's one thing I wish RIM would add to their OS. It would be nice to have the option somewhere for Delivery Reports or Read Receipts.

I have an 8703e with Verizon through a corporate BES and I don't have that option under OPTIONS>SMS.

Sprint 8703e, not in my options either.

Thanks much! Found that option on my 8700g. My wife's 8703e (Sprint) doesn't have that option though.
