Default For work, 8800, 8703c, or Curve!????

Hi all. Like many of you one of my responsibilities at work is managing a BES. We have been using Cingular's 7290 for a while now, before i got hired here. Now it seems like the 7290 is about to be retired. The people at Cingular tell us we can no longer buy it. So were looking for a replacement. My boss ordered 2 8700c's. They are nice but I'm really interested in the 8800.

I asked my boss permission to order a few 8800s to see if thats better than the 8700c, just wanted some opinions from everyone here. Also i have heard reports about the curve, although the unit seems smaller.

Also, one thing too is the 7290 is a tank, and takes a beating. We are concerned that the new ones look fragile.

So my question for you guys is should i persist and get a few 8800s here so we can compare them. Once we find the model we like, that is all were going to order for work, we don't want to have different models on our network, we want to have one model for everybody.

Needs a full keyboard, BES obviously is what we use. Not really concerned about the bells and whistles since its for work use, but then again maybe if it comes with it...

Thanks!

Also, my avatar is Mel Gibson...LOL everyone asks who it is.

I had the 7290 and it took a beating but never broke. I now have a 8700c. Given the choice I would get the 8800 or 8300 for myself.

I would get the 8700c for my users since the cost for them are relatively inexpensice and it can take a little beating.

mavsx--imho, the main difference between the 8700 and the 8800 is primarily bells and whistles. For a step up from the 7290 for a corporate device, I personally would recommend the 8700.

interesting. Thanks for your replys fellas, i don't remember how much we paid for the 8700c, i am sure the 8800 costs more. At least if i can get a couple of 8800s to try, myself and one lucky user will have a sweet BB.

Thanks again. Any more reply's, keep em coming.

Your avatar look like a captured Saddam Hussein. His famous quote (literally)...“If you want to execute me, I'll bring my own [expletive] rope.”

The Curve is less business-oriented than the 8800

Wouldn't that depend on the business, and what the needs of the user are?
In my organization, our users would benefit from the 8300 much more than the 8800 just because of the camera alone.
