Default Help - says device is not connected?

I did a search and found a similiar topic and I tried what it said.

First my usb port on the laptop works, when I plug it into the bb (VZW 7250) the bb light goes on so I know that works. Then I pull up the BB desktop manager and it says disconnected. I went to connection settings and had it detect...no luck, it said device not connected.....

So I took some more advise from the other thread...I plugged it in and reloaded the desktop manager software...no luck, then I disconnected it and removed the desktop software and then reloaded it on my PC...plugged it in and the same???

I need this to work, any suggestions????
