Exclamation Blackberry Redirector trouble

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. My customer just purchased three Blackberrys they'd like to use with our Exchange program. They did this without me and thus our current mess. I am attempting to get the redirector to forward email to the Blackberry 7520. The following is setup.

The PIN is read and fine
The status is Running
The statistics are ...
Forwarded: 0
Sent from device: 0
Pending to device: 13
Expired: 0
Filtered: 1

The events are ...

This has been the same for about 20 minutes. The Blackberry 7520 has between 3 - 4 bars depending on where I hold it. I have tried doing several different connectiong settings. I have the following settings in the desktop manager....

Redirector Settings ...
GENERAL
PIN Number (matches the PIN in redirector)
Redirect incoming messages to your device
Disable message redirection while your device is connected.

FILTERS
No filter options selected
When none of the rules apply: Forward messages to the device.

SECURITY
Generate keys manually
Up to Date

ADVANCED
Account matches user's email address in exchange <first initial last name>@<domain>
Profile Settings are set to always use Outlook
Message service display name is Desktop
Folder redirection is Inbox only
The sent messages from device are copied in the Sent Folder

I have also attempted to send 4 different messages from the Blackberry too but nothing has gone ANYWHERE! This is getting extremely frustrating. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

did they sign up for a data plan ?
can you create a new mapi profile for Outlook, then change the redirector to use that as well.

They do have the data plan to allow for this. I tried to tell them to get BES. They are using the redirector instead.

I did create a whole new mapi profile and linked the redirector settings in the desktop manager to the new profile. No change in the redirector settings, after restarting redirector.

When you say "our Exchange program" are you talking about just regular outlook or do you have something else setup too? What version of outlook are you running? Any spam filters in outlook or exchange?

Well, my client has Exchange Server 2003 running on their server. Each one of them has Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2000. The only spam filter we have is ORF EE spam filter on the exchange server.

The spam filter can be a problem with redirector. With the redirector, when messages are sent and received, an email from [email address] is sent to the users inbox. The message will contain an attachment called ETP.DAT. The body of the message will say "do not delete, forward, or move this message because it is used to carry data between the blackberry and the desktop redirector, etc..." (paraphrase) This message is picked up by alot of spam filters and is sent to a spam folder, etc. I would check that next since you have created a mapi profile already. Although, with a spam filter enabled, you usually would have encountered an issue when installing the software. I would double check that though to see if those messages are being disallowed.

Doesn't pending msgs mean that the redirector is working but the device not picking it up??
