Default Best Browser, BB or SK?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys. My friend has a sidekick 2 and the browser for it is kick ass. It's like an actual web page. Is the blackberry like that? If so, are you able to post on this forum with it?

Kind of a stupid question, i know, but i'm just curious on how the browser looks.

I owned a sidekick. The browser is pretty kick a**, but the server is always either down or experiencing problems. So it may be nice, but its not very reliable. I have webviewer for the BB, and as far as I'm concerned, its the exact same browser, as the SK browser. Same speed. Same page rendering.

I have a 7100t, my girlfriend has a sidekick 2. The browser on the sidekick is really good, but the rest of it is awful. No ability to change themes, no good aftermarket software, no free ringtones, and the im application is very buggy. But, it's cute, and I think that's a little more where the interest lies.....

I had a CSK1 before switching to the 7100t, and I'd have to say it depends on what you're doing. The small-screen rendering of web pages on the SK was excellent, definitely beats the BB. However, as was mentioned above, you were limited by the throughput on the Danger proxy server; at times, it would bog down to the point of being unusable if it was being hit hard, or having hardware trouble. The other nice thing about the BB browser is its support for Javascript (and limited Flash). If you really need to hit a website from the road, and they use a JS-based form, it's good to have. The CSK1 never got around to implementing that.

i owned the sk and now i got my 7520 under the old webviwer by reqwireless i would say the sk beat it hands down the pages looked better and even loaded faster on some sites. btu with the interent browser upgrade they are pretty much equal on sites like yahoo i give the bb the upper hand cuz it loads faster. but i guess its a more of a taste kind of thing

Actually, with all these former sidekick users on here, does anyone have any suggestions for my girlfriend for her sk2? Forums, or apps, or anything at all?

I've had a really difficult time finding anywhere to send her.....

Default Never used a SK but...........

I think the focus of the SK and BB are very different so I would expect the SK browser to be better.

BB= Business
SK= more of a toy, fun

BB is fun for me but I am a geek.

Yeah, tried that one. Looking for something a little less corporate. I'm just gonna make her take my 7100t, and I'll get the 7290....

If you're looking for some forums for the SK2, go to www.hiptop.com

Although, I do not prefer it, just because 90% of the crap on there is not english, it's all ebonics. I've never seen "dawg" and "repp" used more times in a sentence. Not to mention there's a fluke over there named "appletech" who worked for Danger who created the hiptop's, and everybody hates him. Too much drama for one to deal with.

That's why I like these forums, everyone has their heads screwed in, no one is trying to act cool, everyone is just here with a common love of the Blackberry. Not to mention all the great articles by Mark.

But if you're wife/fiance is looking for a toy that is mainly good for AIM/web/phone then I guess the Sidekick 2 is better for her. But when that thing breaks, which it will, seeings how the keyboard peels off so easy, just think "I could have gotten her a Blackberry" ....ROFL.

BTW, everything said about hiptop.com is purely opinionated, and with that comes with variety and preference. I PREFER these forums for the above reasons, however people WILL disagree with me, I realize that.

Tim

Default Blackberry.....

I have a Nextel Blackberry 7520, I was using the Reqwireless Webviewer until I recieved the new HTML Browser from Nextel. However, I haven ever owned a Sidekick. Therefore, I can't say which is better. As for now, I am totally satisfied with new browser for viewing normal websites.

The BlackBerry browser is getting better and better, and there are many sites that the BlackBerry can now access that the Sidekick cannot. For example, if I am using BES 4.0 (or Hosted BES), which provides the best browser, I can access all my online banking websites now!

The Sidekick browser was reported to be pretty good, and the BlackBerry browser used to be pretty crappy, but that is no longer true anymore.

More information about BlackBerry versus Sidekick:
Will I be happy swaping from the Sidekick to a Nextel BB?
