Default Now that I have BES, BWC not working

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I was just added to my company's BES server, and am happily sending and receiving corporate mail. But I lost access to my personal mail account.

Before BES, I had my Blackberry set up to receive personal mail through the blackberry web client (BWC). I am still receiving messages through this account, but I can't respond to these messages and anything over about 5KB is unable to be retrieved. Error message: “More request cannot be completed. Service book information not found.”

I spent some time on the phone with T-Mobile, and we looked at service books and mail setup. The T-Mobile guy thinks a change is necessary on my company's BES server: if I go into Options -> Service Book, there’s an entry for “Web Client” that appears to be disabled. (“IPPP for BIBS”, “E-mail setup” and “T-Mobile USA WAP Transport” are also disabled.) And if I go into Options -> Message Services, “Desktop” is the only available option. The T-Mo guy expected to see an option like “Desktop + Web Client”. I also notice for personal messages that “Using” comes up in the BB’s mail header as “Unknown”, and “Folder” is one of the folders in my Exchange account.

Any thoughts on this? There are people who use BES and BWC to manage two separate e-mail addresses without any problems, right? Suggestions as to what I should tell my BES administrator to do (or even better, what I can do to fix this myself) would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I have BES and BWC working okay together. It might be your BES, but i'm not sure.

Try logging into your BWC account (on the internet) and re-send the Service Book from Profile menu. It may also be worthwhile deleting the BWC Service Book on your device as this will get re-applied when it is re-sent.

Also the BES may have an IT Policy that prevents Other Email Services to be used on the BB devices, so it will be worth liasing with your BES Administrator.

are you sure that your BES administrators haven't turned OFF personal Email (by pushing a security policy to you BB)? I ask because ours did and I experienced exactly the same thing you did, being able to use a feature one moment and suddenly no longer being able to reply to personal email, PIN's etc.

it was frustrating enough that I ditched the corporate BB and went off and bought my own.

the short answer to your question is yes, I was able to use BES and BWC at the same time until our BES admins pushed the new security stuff down.

There is a IT Policy setting that can disable the use of other mail services. According to the description, it cannot prevent emails being received from other mail services but all outgoing mail gets routed through the BES.

Quick Question: If I have a BB through my corporate BES, using a Cingular Blue, can I still register my BB at the Blackberry Web Client? I'm asking because I saw on one of the posts that in order to get the Cingular Browser, someone sent it to themselves through the BWC. thanks.
