Question Address Book Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,
I would like to export my blackberry address book to a file that can be imported to outlook is this possible?

I need to be able to do this thru a file as I will be losing my bb device on friday, and I have not decided between another bb or the iPhone.

Is it possible to export the address book and then bring it with me without the device?

I currently have Blackberry Desktop Manager software on my PC if this helps

Thanks in advance

Mastiff... use your Desktop Manager to sync your contacts DIRECTLY to MS Outlook. You don't need to go to an intermediary file, you will do it directly to MS Outlook.

Unfortunately, that won't work for me, the computer that has outlook installed is not available to me, I am switching companies and they run outlook. So, my BB is staying with my current employer, and my future employer phone situation is up in the air between a bb and a iPhone.

So really, I need to export a file, that I can ultimately import into outlook.

Thanks for any help !!

Then sync your BB via Desktop Manager to the ASCII Import/Export file. Look at DM, Synchronize, configuration tab, and link your BB databases to an ASCII file instead.

Otherwise you can get Outlook Express for free... it will sync. Then when you start the new job, move the Express Data over to Outlook.

Good luck.

I am probably stating something that you already know, but if your soon to be former employer owned the BB device and the computer you were using, all of the information on them, including your address book, is their property. Not a big deal unless you're going to work for a competitor and you had a job that had any kind of "non-compete" language in your employment agreement.

Its done all the time, I realize, but its technically not your data to move.

Emonroe-- yes it will two way sync UNLESS you tell it not to do so.

In Desktop Manager: click Synchronization.
Click the CONFIGURE tab. Click Configure Sync.
For each of the four applications (i.e., address book in your case) highlight the application you want to sync only one way.
Click CHOOSE. Highlight MS Outlook, in this case, and at the bottom of the screen, click EXPORT (to move data ONLY FROM the BB to Outlook).

You should be in good shape then.
