Default Int'l Data Charges in Greece

Please Login to Remove!

I'm planning a trip to the UK and then Greece using my 8700G. It seems that it's hit or miss in getting charged for data with the international add on in various countries. Last time I travelled to the UK I was charged for my data. Can anyone confirm if data is charged when using a BB in Greece?

Did you use a BlackBerry Unlimited International E-mail Add-on Plan from T-Mobile? Here is a detail:

Yes. I added that to my plan before I left (and it was on my bill). I know that others have said that they were not charged for data in the UK but I was and it showed up on my next bill.

Im from the US..So not sure if it will make a difference, but I was in Greece last year (Athens) and was charged for my data with the international plan (from Cingular), although it was at a reduced rate.

I can't remember the Greek carriers name, but it was a single name like "Tommy" or Tony or something similiat.

I'm going back to Greece in September (Santorini, Mykonos). Wonder if I'll have call or data capabilities on those islands....

Get your phone unlocked by Cingular and then you can put another vendors sim card in your phone while in Greece.

As far as the use of Blackberrys in Greece, the follwing applies:
GSM coverage is 99,99% in Greece, the same applies for Blackberry services
Vodafone and Wind Hellas are the two operators that provide Blackberry services . You can get a greek sim for your phone , but you 'll have to wait 24 hours for service (blackberry) activation. 10 Euros for 10Mb pcm (voda) or 20E for 200 Mb pcm (wind). ANy other questions just pm me

Thanks. I leave in 10 days. Where is the best place to buy the cards?
Would my number be the same and would the existing blackberry info (bis accounts/etc) carry over with the new sim?

Thanks for the info.

you can visit call-in-europe.com they provide a europe sim card for one month or longer $10 (their Europe access plan) and you can add a BB option for $0.30/day for bis or $0.50 for bes. It is postpaid and rates in europe are $0.29 incoming, $0.59 local and $0.89 back to the US. No taxes on top of that. You come back and return the sim or you can keep if you travel back to Europe form time to time, and you activate/deactive the BB option at will. They even have rollover minutes plans to call the US.
