Hey guys, I'm using Palm Desktop 4.2 that came with my TX. It currently doesn't export the data using the Switch Device option in BB Desktop Manager. The option is greyed out so I can't select it.

It seems to work with other Palm Desktop versions. Just wondering if there is another way to use Palm Desktop and just export the info one way to the BB 8700. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The Switch Device Wizard in the BB Desktop Manager "should" work to take your date from the Palm to the BB. If not, export from the Palm to a text file or MS Outlook, and then sync Outlook or text to the your BB.

I'll try those options, thanks. I just didn't want to use Outlook but if I need to I should have an old copy to install. I currently use Palm Desktop and sync with my new ipod using a third party plugin and it works great. So, I wanted to just export the info the same way to the BB. But I'll try your suggestions and see what is the simplest way. Thanks again.

Outlook is by far the easiest way.

while outlook may be easiest for some, I don't want to use outlook period. I just got a demo 8830 to play with, and I can choose to go the Palm route, but when the Switch asks which program I want to use PIM info from, everything is greyed out....Palm/Palm Desktop as well as the Win Mobile option. Just odd.

The whole point of doing that is to avoid having to sync palm to Outlook and deal with mapping all the fields and making sure you don't lose any of them. The Switch Device option SHOULD be the easiest way, not Outlook, especially if you don't use the program. For those that do use it, of course it's easier. I hate how RIM just succumbs to Outlook instead of allowing it to sync to other programs. Another win for MS and less options for us. Need iambic to make their Agendus program for BB and get it to sync with their desktop version of it.

I'm resorting to calling tech support before I have to resort to using outlook. If I have to down the road, at least my BB is up and running first.

The reason for Outlook is that it is probably the most widely used PIM out there. DM will sync with other applications such as Agenda and Lotus and others. It will also take a CSV file.
