Default BB Corp Security

Please Login to Remove!

My company has just instituted a security policy for all BBs and now my BB has security set so that it locks up after 15 minutes. I have tried to manually turn this off, or at least increase the timeout period to 1hr - last week I could and now 15 mins is the max.

I am finding this so annoying it is almost making the BB unusuable - having to key in the password (8 chars) each time. Clearly most users in the companmy don't use theirs that much, but I am a heavy user and this change is killing me.

Can anyone suggest anything I can do? Is there something I can hack or delete so that I am not entering my password 35 times a day??

Lots and lots of threads about security (which is implemented via something called an IT Policy on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server).

End result is that there is nothing you can do... No hacks... No way to delete it.

15 minutes is a bit extreme. We use 60, with a 6 character password.

Is the BB your own?
Y?
Surely if the BB is your own, IE you paid for it, and the bill is paid by you(regardless of whether the company reimburses you) it can't be legal for them to download ANY software or security measure without your consent?
Of course if it supplied by work, then your up that creek without a paddle.

Even in this situation I disagree. If it is going against a corporate BES then an organization has absolutely the right to secure their data however they like with whatever policies they deem necessary. I know that is how my company views it.

While this measure might be a bit extreme and abviously annoying, such is the price of security sometimes. Only recourse is to discuss with your IT and Security dept and let them know they have gone too far.
