Tough to answer this with an across the board yes or no. If an adolescent demonstrates a general sense of responsibilty, and most of all a viable need for a Blackberry, why not? The downside to this is that I have yet to meet an adolescent who clearly demonstrates both of these characteristics. Then again, I know 40 year olds who don't demostrate both of these characteristics, and that hasn't prevented them from thumb-typing away while speeding down a freeway...

I have no idea why you ask this question.

I think this is up to the parents to decide if they want their kids to have cell phone.

If so, do they want them to have prepaid to control their use of the phone or have them on a monthly payments if they are responsible enough to control their use of the phone.

Once that get answered, the next one is do they want their kids to have a data plan or not.

Once that get answered, what kind of phone do the parents and/or kids want.

I take it that you ask this silly question is because you must be rich and money is no object to you.

Because of that, I am not going to bother answering this poll and I am not going to bother to check what the results are.

I say a blanket YES. For this reason, those 12yo are the future jibi's and guess' of the world. May as well familiarize themselves now and grow with technology, which as we all know is moving as a rapid pace. It was probably a 12 year old with an apple newton, that last year came up with the concept for the curve........

I would say the only way would by with the Boost Prepaid but even then unless they are doing good in school and are doing afterschool activities that would call for them to have to have one. 12 seems a ittle young but what do I know.

I'm fixing to give my 12 year old daughter a Pearl. I acquired it quite cheap and am going to unlock and put a prepaid sim in it. Even though it won't do anything more than any other phone she'll be a happy camper.

To answer the Q.... Why not? If they can pay for it, or their parents pay for it, what difference does it make to anyone if they have a full keyboard and real email, or can just "text" ??

So yes. In certain situations I see it OK for a younger teenager to have a BB.

Now if the parent is paying for the Phone Plan, Data Plan for the 12 yr olds BB...that is one spoiled kid. In that case...NO! The kid can't assume responsability for himself. He would act as if everything is free....

Im 17 and I have a sister who is 11 turning 12 in July. If there was a time when I decide to ditch my pearl for something else, i wouldnt give my pearl to my lil sis. If anything, I would give her a nextel phone. No telling how much damage she would do to such a fragile phone. hahaha
As responsibile as kids can be, I think your better off selling the phone unlocked.
Now if a 12 year old saves money and decided to buy a pearl, then why stop him/her.
