Default Data plan only...who is the best provider???

Please Login to Remove!

Ok guys/gals i am going to get a Blackberry but for data only. My choices are AT&T/Cingular, Verizon, and Sprint. The corporation i work for gets pretty nice discounts with the providers mentioned above. The Blackberry will mostly be used for checking email with some internet browsing. I guess i am asking does it matter which provider i choose since the Blackberry is not going to be used for phone calls???

Just so you know my voice plan is with alltel and all my family and most friends have alltel so mobile-to-mobile is free. I only use 400 mins of non-alltel air time a month but over 2500 mins of mobile-to-mobile communition a month. Therefore sticking with my ultra cheap voice plan a month makes more sense than switching voice providers. Also alltels smart choice plans are pretty pricey if you want mobile-to-mobile included.

First off, and it's been said here many times before, you need to know which device will provide the best coverage for you where you will be using it.

If it were me, and the Sprint coverage was good, then I'd go with Sprint....

Verizon, great coverage (where I live) and EVDO.

No one but you can say what is best for you. As juwaak68 said, you need to look at where you will use the device, where you live, work, travel and play and find out who has the best coverage. The best carrier for me is Cingular because they have the coverage in New England where I use it. I have a friend who swears by Sprint because they are the only carrier with a good signal where he lives.

Verizon works REALLY well where I live, but their customer support is, unfortunately, one of the worst in the business (in my experience)

I love verizon. The data is very fast over the EVDO. I also use my BB as a phone and love the call quality on it as well. I'm using an 8703e by the way.

All things being equal in the coverage department, I'd say go with Sprint. The Blackberry Unlimited Data Plan includes PAM (phone as a modem) and EVDO is much faster than Edge if you tether.
