I'm used to Outlook and Palm and love using the find feature by category. In the contact screen on Outlook, I label each contact by category. For example, Doctors are categorized as Medical. Then when I forget the name of a Doctor, I use the find feature under tools and Outlook will pull up everyone in the Medical list. I can't make the Blackberry search by category. It searches the Address Book, but doesn't pick up categories. I have a BB 8800 with Cingular. Does anyone have any suggestions to get the BB to find categories?

To view your address book by category, open the menu while in the address book and select Filter. You will then get a list of categories. Select the one you want and you will see all of the contacts in that category.

Wow! Thank you so much! I can't believe it is that simple. How did you figure it out? Is there a good reference book for questions like this? I'm so grateful to know this as I'm getting more forgetful everyday! Aren't we all!

Now that you have solved that problem, how do I get out of the specific category list? I'm stuck in Medical under the address book and can't get the whole address book to come back.

I figured it out. You need to press filter again to get rid of the specific category. Yea!!
