Default BB Messenger to International Recipient

My colleague who has a Verizon unlimited data plan will be traveling to Italy. I in the states also have a Verizon unlimited data plan. Does anyone know the rates for using BB Messenger to a recipient overseas?

I have the same sort of question.
I just moved to the UK from the US and would like to continue using BB Messenger with friends in the US. I have asked several service providers here if I will be able to messenger to the US and have been told no. Maybe I just can't take no for an answer, but I feel like they are wrong. That doesn't seem to make sense.
Assuming I switched from US TMobile to UK TMobile, shouldn't I be able to BB Messenger to US Blackberrys?
And the real question of the hour, would there be extra charges because it's international???
Thanks for the help!

BBMessenger does not have a "price" or "cost" associated with it. BBMessenger uses PIN messages (which are data) from BB to BB, and that is part of your "Data Plan" you have purchased from your carrier. If you BlackBerry Data is is unlimited, then BBMessenger use cost you nothing additional.

International PIN messages and BBMessenger messages cost nothing additional above your data plan. I have PINed with my bro-in-law all the world and never had an additional charge.

PIN and BBMessenger use is NOT carrier specific. PIN messages travel over the RIM network, and do not regard what carrier the sender or recipient reside on.

Good luck.

As stated before, PIN messages use data so no problem there. My understanding is the 8830 does not come with a SIM and a Verizon Global plan has to be added to get the SIM and be able to use it in Italy. A co-worker in my office just got his 8830 and no SIM, so he called VZW and got the info I list above. His SIM is on the way, which is needed for the GSM side of the phone and needed for Italy.

My wife and I use BBM all the time to keep in touch while she's travelling internationally. As stated above, there's no cost aside from the BB data plan which you have to have for data on a BB anyway. Unless you have a limit on your BB data plan and exceed that limit.

My only concern now is that it appears that at&t has placed an ETF on removing their international BB data plan...
