Default Advice on Blackberry for Internet in the UK

Please Login to Remove!

I'm thinking of getting a blackberry, but while I'm an experienced internet user I don't know the first thing about mobile devices, and barely even use the pay-as-you-go mobile phone I have.

I need it to do the following:

-Collect email from Gmail.
-Connect to MSN (and possibly other IM networks.)
-Provide Telnet access for connecting to MOOs. (Such as LambdaMOO.)

Web browsing and other services are good but secondary, the main purpose of this is to keep in touch with my online friends when I'm out and about.

I'd appreciate any advice on which model of blackberry I should get, which service I should use (my current mobile provider is O2 in the United Kindom), and what software/configuration steps I'll need to go through to get Telnet, MSN and so on.

By default I'm leaning towards using O2 and a cheap 7290/7230 off eBay, but I'm open to any recommendations you might have.

Make completely certain if you buy a used BB, that the previous user has released the PIN and canceled his/her BlackBerry Account with their carrier. I would ask if it has been used on a corporate network (BES IT Security Policies can be heck to get rid of).

I have noticed some 8700 for sale on this board for 150-200 USD that are good buys.
