OkeeDokie, here I go!

I love my blackberry 7520! I know it's not the newest phone on the block, but I love it! I do have a few quick questions that I'm hoping you nice folks in the forum can assist me with.

1. When I set up the desktop software, I think I may have set up something wrong. When I start my PC a program called "Desktop Redirector" constantly tells me that it cannot connect?

2. Should I update to the newest OS? I'm running 4.0 and I downloaded 4.1, any reason I should or shouldn't do the upgrade?

3. I'd like to pick up a nice holster or case for my blackberry, is there a good generic case that works? Any recommendations?

4. Is it absolutely required that you use the "wheel" as a selection button? I'm afraid that I'm going to wear it out!

5. I see sections of the forum dedicated to different model numbers like the 7200's etc. Where does the 7520 fit into this forum?

6. I'm trying to get the gmail app for my 7520 but I can't seem to locate it. I'm using opera as my browser and gmail tells me that it cannot identify my phone. Could somebody please PM me a link to the GMAIL app for the 7520?

Yes...you want the Desktop Manager...not Redirector. Uninstall that and install the proper one.

You lose the ability to use the phone button at the top as a shortcut to the phone (space bar will still work if dial from home screen is off...I think), and there are some reports that it's sluggish. Other than that, it's an all around improvement.

Check the Reviews section of this site...lots of cases reviewed there.

Yes, you must, and I've never had a wheel wear out. Some have, but it's very rare.

The 7200-Series Forum is designed to encompass the 72XX, 75XX, and 77XX models, as they're all in the same family.

Pretty sure it doesn't work on that model. Perhaps after your 4.1 upgrade though...

Definitely don't user Redirector.

4.1 has some pretty good features IMO. I felt it was worth the upgrade on my 7290.

Honestly, I'd recommend RIM's OEM cases. Fortte's great about doing custom work. Vaja's cases are very very nice but definitely pricey.

Not in all cases. There are a lot of times that you can use the enter key to select (mostly the dialogs asking you to pick a choice). However, there are functions that require the wheel.

4.1 also enables you to send text only MMS messages and identify who sent you text messages. Its Nextel's weak SMS substitute, but works well most of the time.
