hey everyone! new bb user here! just got my curve! i finally got my gmail messages to stop bouncing back after i reply, but i have another question! how do i get my bb (or more likely at&t bis service) to stop tagging "Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T" to the bottom of my emails when i reply or compose from my BB? its really cheesy looking and i would understand that with free yahoo mail, but i pay for this and i dont feel at&t needs to insert their propaganda in my emails. im sure this is possible hopefully. but can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Log in to your BIS and change it from there.

In some cases, it's worth keeping that language or something like it as a means of letting your recipient know you're away from your desktop. I've changed my signature (via BIS) to include my name...with "(sent via Blackberry)" right next to it, and then my email address and cell phone numbers on the next two lines. It also serves as an easy way to end an email without having to repeatedly type your name.

When you log in to your BIS, select EDIT and erase the text in the SIGNATURE box. Click save and you're done. I dont think you can do it when logging in from the device itself, but rather through your PC.

@rsnadel i didnt think of it that way! makes sense i guess. i just dont want people to know where im sending the email from. im sure if i would have read the directions i would have noticed how to do this, but i am trying to get completely migrated over to the curve from my treo so i can port my vzw number and i have a million things to get done and i wasnt sure. so when in doubt i just put it on here and let you veteran BB users set me in the right direction! thanks again! i guess....thread closed! :-D

honestly, it's a good thing to have at the bottom. you can edit it though, on your BIS account online. i say it's good to have, because it allows the receiver of your message to know you are using a blackberry, which would explain the "quick / to the point" message. some people in the corporate world (believe it or not), can take offense to email responses that don't have a "take care" or "have a nice day." however, once seeing the tag at the bottom saying "sent via BIS " or something like that, they know why you sent a short quick-to-the-point response...you are on a blackberry and typing on a mini keyboard.

i dunno, if you want to get rid of it, go ahead. but the people at my office all have it. give it some consideration before you delete it.

It's not at&t -- that autosignature is on by default for all BIS accounts on all carriers.

It's totally a personal preference. I have an autotext signature on my BB and my desktop install of Outlook is configured to send plain text. My email writing style doesn't change whether or not I'm at my desk. With all that no one knows if I'm at my desk or not (by intent) -- for my job my attendance and location are no one's business. Obviously, YMMV.

Haha! Same here...my style doesn't change either. I don't want to give any more info in an email except what I type. I am more comfortable knowing that all my emails don't say I'm on a berry away from my desk. I'm actually typing this on my berry as we speak! God I love this phone. I still might get a replacement w/ a better trackball though...
