Default Vista problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All

Bought an 8800 yesterday and am really struggling to get the desktop manager software working with Vista, basically the device manager is fine and recognises my devide, but the desktop manager software doesn't work for me - loads and then immediately the program closes.

I've tried all the latest versions of the software available from RIM but each does the same, I've also tried the User Aceess Control seetings within Vista and mentioned on a post here - but this makes no difference. I've also tried running the software in compatibility modes but again with no luck.

So basically I could do with knowing what version s/w I should use, both device and desktop manager - and some tips on making it work!

If not, is there another way to get my Outlook data on the the phone, maybe a third party app or something?

Thanks,

Simon

DM 4.2 SP2 should work. Might try uninstalling and then reinstalling.

Whatever device software is on the 8800 is the latest version.

By chance do it work the first time right after you re-boot?

It's got even worse now!

When trying to reinstall the software I now get error messages when the installer tries to register components, any ideas on this one?

Thanks,

Simon

I haven't tried turning off antivirus, I'll give it a try now.

I have been running Desktop Manager on 2 Vista PCs (my OQO and an updated desktop), and it runs really well.
I did have a crash or two, but switching to 4.2 SP2 solved that.

How do you like the OQO device?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/106)

I love my OQO. I still love my blackberry, but the OQO is very well done. Pricy, but I think worth it.
