Question I don't know which plan to choose

Please Login to Remove!

This is my first cell phone ever so I don't know which plan to choose or what I get from my plan..Can someone help me pick the plan that I need?

Im trying to buy this phone with a plan online right now from this link here..

rogers.com - phones and plans

I only want a 1 year plan right now but the $45 plan doesn't let me choose a 1 year plan for some reason. I'm not really sure what I get with the $35 plan it isn't very descriptive. It doesn't have anything listed for what times I can make calls. For the $45 plan it says additional airtime is 25 cents but for the $35 plan it says additional airtime is 31 dollars? I don't know how to pick a plan..I was just gonna choose the $45 dollar plan and deal with whatever it was for now but it won't let me choose a 1 year plan. So I don't know what to do really. I don't need to make very many calls. But I still want to have enough minutes a month that i can make calls when I need to. Whatever the $45 plan was offering would have been fine. And I need enough data to send and recieve txt messages from time to time and use the internet a little bit and maybe gps eventually. But for now I just want the cheapest plan possible and figure out things from there. Can someone help me figure out what I need? thank you!!

I say for the first month, get a plan that has unlimited data! That way you won't get a scary bill come month end. Once you get that bill look at how much data you actually used, and see what the follow month brings. Based on those two months, you can judge what data package would be suit you...

ps: you really can't beat unlimited...

Not everyone on these forums lives in the US and has access to unlimited data plans (following the link would have confirmed this for you).

Ideally, you want as much data as possible until you have an idea of what your monthly usage is like. It's a bit tricky though as non-US carriers rarely seem to offer unlimited data plans and the plans that they do have are expensive. I'm really not sure what to suggest in this case but perhaps someone else on Rogers can help...

I'm pretty sure no. SMS runs on carriers networks not rims. I would assume MMS would be the same way, but I'm not sure. Can someone verify.

SMS (text) is different from data (email/internet). You pay for each separately, depending on what kind of plans you have with your provider.

Do I get any talk time with the $35 plan? It doesn't explain that really. The most data I can afford from any of those plans is 0.5 megabytes worth. I can't just figure out how much I need 1 month and then change the next month can I? It's asking me to sign up for a year at the very minimum.

This is really a menu of options. You have to buy a voice plan and in order to get access to email/internet you have to buy a data plan. Buying a messaging (SMS) plan is something else. To get all three, you have to sign up for three different options. You can add other options as well. Keep in mind that if you buy a limited data plan, and you go over the limit, you'll be billed for the additional charges. Same goes for the voice plan and the messaging plan.

BLKLBL -- the Rogers site is really slow for me so I'm not going to walk you through this. You basically need to choose a voice plan and then choose a Blackberry data plan to add on to your account. The voice plan will outline all your calling details (minutes alloted, etc etc).

They are listed together on the Rogers site that's what Im asking help with. because it doesn't explain it very well plus this is my first cell phone ever and I don't know what to do and Im asking for help. They only have a few plans listed there. I really don't understand what type of minutes I should be looking for or anything so I dont get scammed and have to pay $32 a minute or whatever it is on the $35 plan if I go over my minutes. The $45 dollar plan seems fine but it wont let me sign up for a 1 year plan with that one..only 2 years and more...Can someone please help me so I can order this phone today.

Can someone help me choose a plan please? You guys have already done this so you know what to do. This is my first time and I don't know which one of those plans I should choose. They aren't very descriptive at all.
