Default Save sent items on handheld and server/POP

Hi,

Can BB BIS/BES save items sent in handhelds also in exchanges/pop and vise versa? Can both have automatic copies in respective sent items once you send an email from 1 source?

BES there is an option to automtically save sent items in the desktop manager. As for BIS, in the options of your account there is a field 'auto bcc'. All you do is enter your email address there, and for every email you send from your BlackBerry, it will auto bcc your email address!

So, when you use a client to check your email, it will automatically download the sent emails, too...

So technically, it just sends the other harware a copy of the email sent by the sending one. But it can't automatically synchronize the sent items. Is this right?

if i understand your question correctly...the answer is YES.

I have 3 email accounts:
1.) college IMAP
2.) Gmail POP3
3.) BIS email

When I send emails from my blackberry, it puts those sent emails under the "sent messages" folders on my college IMAP and Gmail POP3. In other words, the POP3/IMAP goes both ways. Does this answer your question?

There's no way that a POP3 account can have sent items that were sent via the BB. Did you specifically configure gmail as POP3 or did you let BIS set it (i.e. you just supplied your email address and password)? If it's the latter, it's not POP3.

On POP3 accounts, you have to autoBCC if you want mail sent from your BB saved in the original email account. With BES, there's nothing to do as this is done by default (and you have full reconciliation).

I let BIS auto-configure it, and BIS says it's a POP account. Gmail is a POP3 account. I use Mozilla Thunderbird and it does the same thing...it syncs both ways. The only thing it doesn't sync is Drafts. But it syncs both ways. If I sent something from Thunderbird it goes under "sent items" under gmail

If BIS auto-configured your gmail account it's not POP. You'd have to manually configure it. Where do you see that BIS indicates that it is a POP account? The POP protocol just doesn't support what is needed for reconciliation.
