I went to the Blackberry site to update my desktop software to 4.2. I downloaded it and went to instal but it gives me an error message. Any idea why?

Gonna need a lot more info than that. What version Desktop Manager? What version of Windows? What is the error?

Sorry, when I go to run the install it starts then gives me an error message saying "1: Failed to install ISKernel files. Make sure you have appropriate privileges on this machine. I'm also running on Windows Vista.

I am having the same problem. Anyone know what to do about it? (I did a search but couldn't find anything.)

Try to deactivate the UAC (User Control Account) on Windows Vista:
- go on start and click on you avatar
- click on activate/deactivate User Control Account
- turn off the choice "To protect you computer, use the User Control Account"
- click on OK
- restart your PC
- try to install again the Desktop Manager
