Default A few quick questions re: BB Redirector, BIS

Please Login to Remove!

I'm about ready to make the switch from a Moto Q on the Verizon Network. I just wanted to verify that I would still have everything working migrating from the configuration below. Please share your insight regarding the setup I would need. (My company does not support BES, so I think BB Redirector is my only option)

Current (motoQ):
-Corporate e-mail/calendar monitored and synched using VZ Wireless Sync through Outlook (only syncs when connected to network and monitoring sw is running)
-Personal e-mail pushed using PushEffect

Projected Settings (BB 8830):
-BB Redirector for corporate e-mail AND calendar (does calendar sync wirelessly as well when redirector is running?)
-Personal e-mail through BIS (I'm assuming I could use both BB Redirector AND BIS simultaneously. Am I correct?)

Thanks so much in advance!

Why not have all email via BIS? For redirector to work you must have your PC on and Outlook running.

The only way that I am aware of to wirelessly sync calendar and contacts is via BES.

Thanks for the reply dubdub. I didn't think I can use BIS with my corporate email as I have to be VPN'd in. So BB redirector only redirects email?

Not a redirector expert, so I can't really answer that one. If your company has web or POP access, then you can use BIS. I would set it up in BIS and see what happens.

Post Redirector

Hi...
Redirector will allow you to sync task, calendar and memo locally to an Outlook profile...
I am not sure if you can use redirector and BIS together but as long as you have a data account setup, you should as a BIS setup will show on the desktop as an icon and will be directed to your device. You will have to see if this works... Sorry, we only use BES but if you get this working, it would be interesting to know if it does.

Does anyone know if BIS works with OWA, even if OWA only works when on the company intranet (or VPN'd in)?

Yes, BIS works with OWA.

If it doesnt automatically detect it from your details then you can specify the settings through manual setup on the BIS page - it asks you what account details are and whether personal or work (work option has OWA settings)

OWA works off Exchange so if you have a valid email address, you should be able to specify this on the BIS like the previous post indicates.
Let us know if this works out...

Thx...

BIs does work with OWA but I think the people who previously gave you that reply ignored the whole VPN issue. I don't think you can configure BIS to VPN for an OWA connection so I can't see it working in your case.

In general I strongly suggest avoiding Redirector or Mail Connector for reasons already stated but it might be your best bet for corporate mail.
