Default direct gmail browser problem

Please Login to Remove!

I recently tried to download gmail direct software onto my blackberry. On the gmail sign in page I selected 'get gmail faster'. However, when I selected the download I got an error message saying 'HTTP Error 406: Not Acceptable the page you are trying to load is not supported by the browser'

Why am I getting this message is it because I am on the BES system and I can't access the through work? Or is there a way around this?

Try adjusting your emulation settings in your browser. IIRC Blackberry is the default. Setting it to IE helps in some situations.

It sounds like you're trying to download from the regular login page.
You should download from gmail.com / app

And here's the central download page for all of google's mobile apps:
Google Mobile

Hii all looks like I am being blocked from installing this app over-the-air by my administrator. Is there anyway to install gmail with the desktop installer???

Default BES Policy

Right, it's being blocked by BES policy. If you work for a smaller company, they might allow it. If a large company, good luck.

OK guys maybe you can help again. So I cant download programmes over the air because of my company BES policy. I have now tried to install two programmes using the desktop manager (jivetalk and smartview). Both of which seemed to install and appeared in my applications. However, no icons appeared on the applications screen. I rebooted my BB 8300 which just resulted in the complete disappearance of the application from applications folder. Does my BB have a little administrator in it, why are these programmes dissapearing? I work in an educational institute its not exactly coporate warfare
