Question New User - Syncing BB to 2 PCs

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

I'm a new user so forgive me for asking dumb questions. I'm trying to setup my BB (a Curve) to sync between 2 PCs. One is my work computer and the other is my home computer. The work one will, eventually, have a BB Notes Enterprise server connection to it while at home I just have Outlook with multiple POP3 accounts.

I think the setup on the work PC is pretty self-explanatory. I'm wondering what I need to do on the home pc? I've got contacts and a calendar I'd like to sync on the home pc. Does it matter which computer I sync first?

Also, is there a way to keep the info separate at least during syncing (ie the home stuff is synced while the BB is hooked to the home computer, and the work stuff is synced when hooked to the work PC?) or, will everything just meld together?

Thanks for any help you can provide. I'm pretty new at this and I just want to make sure I don't screw everything up right out of the gate. Thanks again.

You can't have separate contact lists and calendars on a BB. Everything will integrate together.

Setup is the same for both until the BES is set up at work. Choose the BIS/internet option on both PC's. You'll have to reinstall Desktop Manager at work once they have their BES in place.

You can try setting up filters under Intellisync/Sync for your address book, tasks, memos and calendars. It would probably be best to create Work and Personal categories for your items but you would also need to assign categories to your items for this to work. I've never actually used it though so I don't know how well this would work out from a practical standpoint. Instead, I have a work BB and a personal BB.
